From the time she was in third grade Joyce LeClair knew she had a desire to be a hairdresser. After graduating from Normandy High School, she got her license and began working in a local salon. With six year's professional experience and a deep passion for the industry, Joyce founded A Compliment by Joyce on Route 82 in North Royalton in 1979. Discovering a charming century home that had previously been the first schoolhouse in North Royalton, the home of the woman who became the community's first female mayor, and is the highest point in Cuyahoga County, Joyce acquired the building as the new home for her salon in 1991. We met with Joyce recently, and listened as she described the services offered by A Compliment by Joyce;

A Compliment by Joyce is a full service salon and spa specializing in hair cutting and styling, innovative coloring, high styling, wedding parties, and make-up services. We offer manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails, tanning, facial and body waxing, and massage therapy, in addition to a wide range of spa packages including full wedding parties from start to finish. Our clients include both men and women, and we're very "child-friendly". Our retail line includes products from Nioxin, Matrix, Kenra, Alterna, Keune, Mantra, and AG. Walk-ins are always welcome, but appointments are certainly recommended.

We're a family oriented salon and have a reputation for having a very friendly staff. Everyone feels at home here, and our staff strive to make sure that all our clients our comfortable. I'm very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people working with me, and most of them have been here between sixteen and twenty-six years.

We provide many types of massage therapy, including Thai massage to restore flexibility and balance, deep tissue and sports massage to relieve tightness in muscles and joints, and Swedish massage for relaxation. All will increase mental clarity, energy, balance, and an overall sense of wellbeing.

We're presently renovating the shop to better serve our clients, and booth rental or high commissions are always available for innovative hair dressers, nail technicians, and massage therapists.
