Harborside Healthcare was originally built in 1983 in response to Cuyahoga County's increased need for nursing home beds. In 1996 the former owners sold the facility to Harborside Healthcare, one of the nation's leading providers of high-quality long-term care and rehabilitation services, and in April of 2007 became an affiliate of Sunbridge Healthcare. We met recently with Administrator Karen B. Williams, MPA, LNHA, and listened as she provided this overview of Harborside Healthcare's services;

Harborside Healthcare is a rehabilitation and nursing center providing superior care for local residents for nearly a decade. We provide long-term custodial care for individuals unable to continue living at home, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services including occupational, physical, and speech therapy. We are a recipient of the prestigious Step 1 American Health Care Association (AHCA) Quality Award.

We offer outstanding care and excellent customer service, as evidenced by the fact that our Director of Nursing and our MDS Nurse both have loved ones under our care. Two of the key metrics used to qualify facilities in our industry are the incidence of pressure ulcers and the incidences of falls among the residents. We are proud of having an extremely low incidence of each at Harborside Healthcare in Broadview Heights.

Our focus is on promoting our residents' quality of life and enabling them to enjoy life to its fullest. Harborside is a very clean facility accented by an abundance of natural sunlight. We have our own on-site beauty/barber shop, library, dining room, exercise room, and pharmacy, and provide our residents with a wide range of scheduled activities. We focus on providing a caring, safe, supportive environment for our residents so they can live lives that are as active, dignified, and independent as possible.

We strive to take an active role in the local community. In addition to the 159 residents in our care, we also provide jobs for 220 community members. We have aligned ourselves with Marymount and Parma Hospitals and are working hard to be a provider of choice for both of these facilities. Not only do we aspire to be a healthcare provider known for great care and services, but we are also members of the Broadview Heights community seeking to reach out to local residents.
